Interesting video on raw meat diet for cats and dogs. It appears many veterinarians are against a raw meat diet for cats and dogs. Excuse me! Are they not aware that cats and dogs over thousands of years have evolved to eat raw meat. What on Earth would a cat eat in the wild. It would eat small rodents, birds, fish etc. And it would eat them raw, it would not light up the barbecue or the cooker!

People make the mistake of thinking that cat and dog diets are the same. That is totally wrong. Dogs and cats have evolved differently and are different animals. Dogs can get by on food that is not meant for cats. Food high in carbohydrates, with plant proteins and vegetables just does not suit cats. Cats need a diet high in animal protein and very low in carbohydrates.

Manufactured cat and dog food has only been around for less than a 100 years and that is not nearly enough time for evolution to adequately adapt to the new diet or throw out the old diet. However dogs and cats are resilient enough to survive on these manufactured diets, even though they may not thrive. But be wary of cat food that has gravy that is high in carbohydrates. We believe that high carbohydrate food is one of the reasons for the diabetes epidemic amongst cats. The only issue surrounding a raw meat diet for cats is the freshness of the meat.
